Hello everyone, and welcome to our first blog. I hope you have looked through the website, and you found something of interest to you.
I live in a village called Thornton-le-Dale which is in The North York Moors National Park, 50 kilometres north of York. The thatched cottage in the picture by the side of Thornton Beck is a big tourist attraction in the village. There are some attractive alms houses nearby and most visitors in the summer buy an ice cream and walk around the village admiring the views. We have won awards for the village in the past. There is a Gala in the village on 28th May and a Show on 9th August and a scarecrow festival on the August bank holiday weekend 2017. There are free brass band concerts on the village green during the summer. You might like to watch a game of cricket or walk up to Dalby forest and go mountain biking. You could also come along in December and join with a couple of thousand other visitors to drink mulled wine and watch the Christmas lights be turned on.
The reason I’ve told you all this is because we at YesYork would like to show you around Thornton-le-Dale and hundreds of other interesting places in Yorkshire and give you one of the best holidays you have ever had. It will be unique, fascinating, and give you an insight into a part of England you will never forget.
I look forward to seeing you soon.
